A friend gave me a never used timing belt, it is maybe 17 years old. Can it be used or is it to old?
That is the old design without the Kevlar and are known to break fairly easily....and often sooner than the 12k-mile recommended belt change interval. You also have to worry about breakdown of the rubber from sunlight and ozone. Personally, I'd thank him for it, but I'd trash it or hang it on the wall as a conversation piece.sprintex wrote:A friend gave me a never used timing belt, it is maybe 17 years old.
