Anyone tried a modern ECU?

Electronics in all areas has developed a lot in the last 20 years.
Think of what you use at work, in your home etc. And not to mention PC`s....
I`m sure engine electronics have developed alot too, in 20 years.
Our 907IE`s has 1st generation ie units for bikes, from 20 years ago.
On my carbed -97 M900 I have a programmable ignition unit, it`s 2-3 years old. Works wonderfully.
So,
has anyone replaced the OEM P7 unit w something more up to date?
Is it working good? I`m thinking of the MyECU replacement.
Anyone w experience of that or any other new ECU?

Bump. Noone?
Why i ask:
I have had MC`s from the 60-70-80-90`s. I have fiddled w them.
I think at least 95%l of us w the same experience think the same:
They were cool in many aspects but the electrics were bad; charging, ignition lights etc. Quality, reliability etc not to mention....
Fitted a new ign unit to my M900 -97, works wonderfully.
The WM P7 is like 20 years old, who would like a 20 years old CPU in their otherwise good PC/Mac?

Gert,
it isn't easy such thing.
Someone tried to fit an ECU on a 750 (you can find its experience in the 750 forum), but there were many problems.

Many people find more useful to change only the eprom, so the FIM chip seems the better choice.
If you have some big electronic skills you could try. For sure, I can't.
Antti could get some advice.

Frankie, i have talked with Gert this thing by PM and my opinion is this:
P7 ECU is designed to 851/888 series bikes for racing and winning WSB series races, so its "BEST QUALITY ECU" find in those times, when it was built, late 80s(in 851) and early 90s(in 888 and 907IE). Its very realible still, cause ONLY FEW have failed, so WHY to change it, cause replacements need plenty of work to electrical wirings and "knowing, what to do"???? .... and thats not all: COASTS are also important to think allways( i am realistic, sorry), so why to put "plenty of money" to "old 907ie" to make some SMALL improvments to injection. If want better injected Ducati, then better to choose some other newer Ducati modell with more hps also....

These are only my taughts about putting new ECU to old bike...
Some years ago i also thinked to put P7 ECU to my 750 Paso(i still have near all needeed things, like P7 ECU, 907 wiring looms and 907 throttle bodies), but then i realized, that its little "stupid" to invest moneys to old bike, cause its "too complicated" to add injection to such bike, what is not designed to be injected... Most of problems seems to be in timing system, cause that is totally different in 750 Paso and in 907IE. I "gave up" and dont think it anymore...at least not yet... I have enough work with all my bikes(cause i do all maintains by myself), so i must think, to where i put all my freetime. Sometimes need time also for driving(i drive about 15000kms/year(7 months), but that is surely only about 10% of time, what i am playing with my Ducatis...

I think everybody see these things little another way, so i can understand also other ways to do things...

Let us Gert to try new ECU, if he really want to change it, ill try help as much, as i can ... Pitty, that i am quite tired and hurry these days....

500 AU$ + shipping f AMB & remapable chip and and I still can`t do any adjustment
myself w/o the FIM hardware is not so attractive. One hour at a mechanic w that costs 60-70 Eu. It quickly adds up to more than what another solution like MyEcu costs f e.
But right now I`m just checking all options. I have the possibility to get new Eproms burned, that`s definately the cheapest....
Also a bit frustrating that the FIM chip didn`t make that much difference.
Main goal is driveability & throttleresponse, power comes second, believe it or not....
Here`s what I really want to do

Can`t switch to a new ST, they look nothing compared to a Paso!

For me that FIM chip made huge difference compared to 023 Chip! Heads were ported with new seat material and i wanted MORE POWER from engine, so with original 023 it run way too lean, so FIM chip (with adding map 7.4% richer in hole range) mean totally different performance. Normal FIm chip need in my bike to richen it quite alot, but now i am very satisfied to it. Surely everybody can do to they own bikes whatever they want(...and be happy then

)
Btw, about that black 907: Does it have some ST2 engine???
I didnt read at all that another article, cause i realized immediatelly, that it was german langueage, what i dont know at all

Latest from
http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aus-alt- ... 47316.html :
115hp, 111 Nm at rear wheel, top speed 270km/h! :lick:

I have more hps, but less torque in my ST4S from rear wheel... Top speed is only choosing right sprockets!
Anyway, its important, that enigine runs just right way in that rpm area, what normally using....

My friend mechanic says the ST3 has a great engine, excellent balance beetween power and torque.
I never tried it, but I'd be curious!

U should test it, but if thinking not tuned ST3 engine, then not tuned ST4s engine gives "more" and 4S have better components....

No offence, Antti, but that is in a ST. ST is plain looking, no matter engine capacity.
Imagine ST3 power with Paso looks ... :lick:
Maybe I`m an idiot (alkohol lock is off my PC tonight...)
but a Paso w ST3 engine is a dream bike for me! :lick:

We all have our own opinions, but better keep marvelous 996cc ST4S engine(and ST3 engine!!!) in very good ST frame and never put it to Paso frame :funny: Anyway, those combinations with new engine in old frame are nothing to me... I am "waiting", that someone stupid person put Desmosedici engine to Cucchiolo frame and surely send fotos to internet.... STUPID to add powerfull engine to such frame, what cant handle those hps! Its just, like to put some powerfull engine to OLD Paso frame.... "Paso frame", like also in MHR had, fits to MHR engine and thats very nice combination, but never some 4 valve engine to Paso! NEVER! Let us keep Pasos, as they were designed and let other do, whatever they want.....
Gert, If U want "better Paso", choose then ST4S engine, what is much better, than ST3 engine... But why to put ST engine to Paso, if can have much better handling bike with ST frame... Is that "looking" all??? I think, no, if You want more power! Then must choose some other bike, than Paso!
Btw, Gert; how much 40* spirit(Absolut???) You have drinked this eve??? I have taken 0.6l of Finlandia Vodka in sauna.....

but still can write with pc......and not so much "mistakes" with letters, only keyboard is going up and down hole time.... :funny:

The German has to have TÜV approval and hes got that so I think the it can handle the ST3 power.
No matter what engine, frame, handling etc, ST just looks uninteresting to me. I probably will never do such a big projekt,
just admire those who do. I`m still just checking options for this winter.
Think I had 7-8 Export beer that evening.
