Chain Adjustment Tools

Does anyone use aftermarket tools or have any secrets for aligning the rear wheel when adjusting the chain? Those metal parts that have the marks for wheel alignment rotate on the axle, causing the marks to move forward or backward by 1mm or more which makes it impossible to align the wheel properly.

Thanks,
Tim

I simply measure from back plate to nut.

Hi

I have made a very simple and cheap tool for checking the alignment. It is simply a wooden cross about six inches high with a base on for stability and about twenty foot of string through two small screw loops on the end of the arms.

After adjusting the chain, simply place the tool against theback of the rear wheel, pass the string along either side of the rear wheel, ensure that the string is taut and in gentle contact with the sides of the rear tyre, and hey presto, instant alignment check with the front wheel.

Simple, easy and costs bugger all

The best type of tool. It is not even ducati specific.
