from the 750FAQ
Hello all, just thought i would comment on this topic after sourcing new blanks for an existing key (the rounded ignition type and the seat lock). I had great feedback and help from a company in Australia
http://www.keys4classics.com , who identified the key as their key blank number #253
well here's a copy of my invoice for 2 ignition blanks and 2 seat lock key blanks.
2 of #253 GT5BP @ 4.95
2 of #325 MER1@ 3.50
Shipping 2.95
TOTAL US$19.85
try the search function for "key blanks" there`re lots of posts.

I would have Keys4Classics make the keys up for you rather than having blanks copied locally. They are steel blanks and most places won't even cut them. The ones that will can screw up the depth and will make them difficult to use in the seat. If you don't know you key code, send him a picture and pay the extra money to get it cut to factory codes. I wish I had

i never could find a keycode for my bikes locks, however one of the local locksmiths did an excellent job for me and all 4 keys work in ignition/gascap/seat.YMMV :-)

Same here. I bought key blanks for all my 907ies from these guys and they were perfect. FYI, the '91 907ie uses a different key blank than model years '92 and '93.

At least the early '91s. They used the remaining stock of 906 locks. Keys 4 classics came up with that info and sent the right blanks with no return on the wrong ones. Good people to deal with.

gldman,
I thought all the '91s had a different key than the '92 and '93 907ies, (mine definately does, and
http://www.keys4classics.com shows a different blank for '91), but I'm not surprised to learn that Ducati changed key blanks during the '91 production year. They did the same thing with the gas caps and exhaust cans. Typical Ducati.

yea if you look on the pictures supplied by the keys4classic guy........there is a groove that is different on the two blanks listed for the 907 fitment.(one blank has this groove closer to the edge than the other,if i remember correctly, sorry this was about 4 years ago for me)
i noticed this in the picture and could tell that one of them did not match up to mine and when my keys arrived they were indeed like my oem silca

Yes, I would also recomend the keys4classics guys. The local locksmith made a copy for me, and he did mess up on the depth. It took watching an entire movie with a small set of files to correct it. After I started, I just wanted to see if I could. It turned out okay, they all work in all the locks, but it took a couple of hours to fix, instead of importing more keys from australia.
