Re: temperature gauge
Hi,
according to the manual the fan switches on at 92°C.
I`d say normal operating temp should be 60-80°C. (120-170°F), while the "red zone" starts at 120°C (250°F)

Re: temperature gauge
If you're asking because your temp gauge is very hight, you have to know the 907 always has the gauge quite hight, above all when you stop the bike, as at the traffic light.

Re: temperature gauge
I'm an air cooled guy but is it reading water temp?? If so, shouldn't it read whatever the thermostat (one warm) is set for or above?

Re: temperature gauge
Jon, you`re right. ... water cooling. I didn`t think about that.
Considering this I would say normal temp is still as stated but red zone starts at 100°C.

I think something more than 100°.paso750 wrote:Jon, you`re right. ... water cooling. I didn`t think about that.

The pressure on the circuit and the antifreeze would raise a little bit the red zone temp.

Re: temperature gauge
Hi, my 907 runs the most of the time 70 degree celsius.
sometime a little bit lower, when the ambient tempereatures between 0 and 10.
Summertime, I never saw 90.
I know from a friend who has a motocross tuning store, he's aiming for 70 degree.
At this point the 2-stroke engine performs the best, and I don't why a 4-stroke should be differrent.
The max. temp can be above 100 as the system is slightly pressuraised.

Re: temperature gauge
ST2 have quite accurate temp meter and engine is very similar to 907 and ST2 meter shows in normal driving near hole time 73C....

Re: temperature gauge
Here in Italy (where the temp is surely higher), when I drive in the downtown traffic (quite rare), I always have the fan switched on.ducbertus wrote:Hi, my 907 runs the most of the time 70 degree celsius.

Besides, outside the city, when I stop at the traffic lights, the fan often goes on.

Re: temperature gauge
As I get more seat time with my recently purchased ‘92 907ie I’ve been wondering if my coolant temperature is “normal”. This time of year I’m riding in air temperatures that are give or take 60 deg F.
The pic is from the bike a couple days ago right after a moderate backroad ride, this is a pretty typical gauge reading I see, it seems to be running about 150F or 65C. This seems a bit on the low side to me, but I guess there’s nothing really to do about it. It runs good so I don’t have any complaints.
When doing in town, stop & go sort of traffic the gauge does go a few ticks above the 175F mark, so the gauge and temp sensor seem to be in working order.
No real question, just posting up a data point. Cheers.
