Re: Checking electric system
Yes! When You look closer, that plate, where 907 RR is fitted, is insulated from frame with 3 rubber holders and that RR cover(fins) are not connected DIRECT to earth ! Surely RR is conncted to earth with that minus(-) wire, but what happens, if that fails, or some bad connection in that wire???? I can quess.... I have read long time ago, that someone missed his RR , when that - wire went broken and immediatelly i made that extra wire from fins to good earth. Anyway that is "safety thing"...

Re: Checking electric system
For my winter project I’m going over my 907ie to learn it’s history, freshen up what I come across, clean all over, and learn how it’s put together.
One “Easter Egg” I came across was this nest of hotness. I peeled away all the crummy insulation, pulled connectors apart, scuffed and cleaned and heat shrink-ed things back together. Then I learned someone had cut the red wire from the leads coming from the stator/engine. From my reading of past topics this tells me the reg-rec has been replaced. I looked it over but can’t really tell the brand. In the 500 or so miles I put on it since I took delivery the charging system seems to be working ok, but I hope to head off future troubles by this maintenance and cleaning all the grounds.

Re: Checking electric system
You can post a picture of the reg/rect. Maybe someone can identify it.
I'm wondering about the cable with the cut red wire. Is that an original one? All the wiring is in hoses while that is a 3-wire cable.

Re: Checking electric system
I took a couple of pictures, getting the best view I could without removing the reg-rec. It looks to me the original Ducati mounting holes line up with the reg-rec bolts.
Paso750, I don’t know if the 3 wire cable is the original or not. I think I am the 3rd or 4th owner so I don’t know the bikes long term history. There are no numbers or wording along the outer sheath for what that is worth.

Re: Checking electric system
Hard to say what model reg/rect it is. I searched through pictures but didn't see one with that order of wires (two green in the middle and the yellow on the outside)

Re: Checking electric system
Looks like a modern Ducati one, not original.
Loosen it and see what it says, like Shindengen, letters, numbers.

Re: Checking electric system
Hi Gents, I took a few minutes to check out the reg/rec. on my bike.
Here a picture of what is stamped along the bottom: SH673-12 is the marked there.
A couple of the results from my web search were eBay listings of this reg/rec from France for the DS engined Ducatis, the early 2000’s models.
For general knowledge I’ve included a picture of the Lancia Fiat relay that is there. I don’t know if this was the OEM part or a replacement installed sometime in its history, but maybe this will be useful info for someone. I appreciate any comments or info, regards.
