Post by ducatipete »

Mmmm a new problem, battery drains completely over a weeks non use, have bought a new battery but the same happened again. What could be causing this as everything is switched off by the ignition key????Have recently replaced the rectifer/regulator..... :!:

some would immedeately say it is the clock.
Did you have the problem before you changed the regulator ?
Try to disconnect the + lead of your battery and connect the battery pole and + lead to an ampere meter (check FAQ, page 2). Let us know how much power (mA) you read (ign switch of course has to be on OFF). Then try to pull out one fuse, put it back in and pull out the next to see if power consumption drops down to zero. So you at least can say in which circuit the power is used. Then we can check the wiring plan.
(or try to remove the middle dashboard connector for a test and see what happens)

Thanks G, clock does not work anyway, and the rectifer/reg was replaced a while ago, so do not think its connected to my problem. Will try out what you say on Monday and come back, Pete

Mr "G" is right about to check from fuse box, what circuit drains battery, but clock doesnt drain battery in one week !!!!!
It takes quite small amount of current and "trouble" is somewhere else... Ok, if clock circuit have some shortcut, then its possible, that clock drains battery, but that is about 1% possibility to Your problem..... :smoke:

I'm an expert about the battery discharging. Now, my battery is under the accumate...
I can tell you if the battery is OK, not less than of 30/40 days for the discharging.
It isn't the clock. You have another problem.
