Another new ride at my house. Don't FREAK out!!!!

Post by jcslocum »

I picked this up last weekend to help a friend of a friend out. I paid $1000 for this HUGE Honda! It's a 1986 Hondah Gold Wing is very nice condition with 24K miles on it. It's been sitting for a couple of years due to her husbands death. I intend to ride it over the winter a bit and then sell it to fund a Moto Giro bike for the East Coast Giro next year. It a big and heavy beast! These pictures show how clean it is and I have yet to even dust it off. This is how it rolled off the trailer.

I can't fit anymore bikes in my barn now! There are 6 in this picture along with my tractor.

These bikes are king of the road when it comes to long days in the saddle, I wouldn't be so quick to part with it. May not have the uniqueness of a vintage Ducati but a nice bike and a reliable just the same, may not turn heads but when you are looking at 6 or 7 hundred miles to your next destination do you really care about the paparrazzi ? Hey I'll give you 1500 right now if you don't want it

Jon, I have to do a personal question.
Are you married???
If you're married, do your wife tell nothing to you after you have so filled the garage???
If she don't tell anything to you, can I ask if she has a sister???
Ciao

Jon,

Nice looking bike you picked up! I think I would have bought it, also, at that price....I'll give you $1001 for it.

A couple more bikes and you'll catch up with me.

Oh yeah....I got your email. I'm glad the bracket and bolts made it to you.

Yes I'm married! 30 years already for us and she actually doesn't like the motorcycles but she puts up with it. This was more of a mercy buy to help the lady out, so it's a good cause. She doesn't have a sister.....sorry! She does have 2 weasel brothers tho, if you like men :-)

The barn is full we still have a 2 car garage for the Mini Cooper and Alfa Spider. And there is one motorcycle in there too, on a shelf.!

Jon,

Good luck with the new ride. Though the bike doesn't have much personality compared to a Ducati, they are depenble and simple. You should give the bike some time come spring, though somewhat heavy, they a very neutral once off the side stand and actuallly handle fairly well. Ground clearance is the biggest issue. Your wife may change her mind about riding once she get on that thing. Who knows?

Enjoy!
Thanks

I'm sure everyone has seen these before but it goes to show you it's all rider and not as much the bike, listen to the hard parts scraping on the bike doing the filming

And in this one the the 999 never gets out of the Goldwings sight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCWy-sVCaJY

Jon,
In the early 80s I had a strong interest in endurance racing, and Honda Goldwings have a history with endurance racing; for some reason the Swiss were keen on using them. Not very sucessful, but strong contenders. Since then I've always fancied doing something like this;

Note the exhausts are off an 851.
