Exhaust guides and seats

I recently had an exhaust valve tighten up a bit causing a backfire. Has anyone experienced this maybe due to a seat recessing in the head? I'm not sure if the seats were setup for unleaded fuel, which could cause this problem. I've got 22K miles on mine now.
