Hi to All,
Front brake pads on my 92 907IE rattle, like a bag of nails !
Had the bike MOT d here in the uk and the tester thought there was something missing from the Gold coloured front Brembo Calipers.!!
Anyone out there know if there should be anti rattle springs(not sure if thats what they are called)in the front Gold Brembos?
Cheers
Gerry

There are metal cover plates on the top that help hold the pads from rattling. The pins that hold the pads in place, also hold the anti-rattle plates. If a previous owner didn't know quite how to put it all together, they may have bent the spring fingers so that there isn't the tension that was intended.
Cheers,

The original OEM pads come with a metal wire "spring" that keeps tension against the retaining pins to help keep out the rattling. Most after market brands don't have this wire spring. See the picture below.

I can`t se the spring in above expl views,
but usually there is one under 22 on black & gold 4piston Brembos.
Lies on top of pads.

In my drawing above, to the left of the word spring, the gray line is the "spring" that I was talking about. Below are some pictures I took of my 1992 907 and some old OEM ducati pads with the spring. The other pictures above of the caliper looks like a later or newer caliper than I have. I remember seeing those calipers on 900ss models.

The rattle spring is visioned in Gerhards pic above:
It is the purple colured thingy keeping the pads in place, hold in place by the pin in center of caliper.

now that I see du907`s pictures I remember the whole story. When I bought my 4 piston Brembos years back they came w/o pads and the ones I bought then didn`t have the spring wire on top so I got myself the Brembo pad springs. So the need of them will depend on the brake pads you get.
