Hi
I need a set of rings for my bike, Ducati Aust sell sets at AUD$370 per piston!
Any other suppliers out there?
Other option is FBF "Hi comp Drop in kit" at $420USD, but I don't think my insurance company would like that!
And I gather that I would also need to get a different chip for the bike at what cost????
FBF don't quote for custom chips

whilst trying to find rings for a 1930 ish blackstone diesel motor ,at the local motor reconditioner , I bemoaned the fact that I had to pay nz$600 for ducati rings , Turns out there is a subaru motor with 92mm bores and he could supply a 4 cyl set of rings for about nz$80 . I didnt follow this up at the time but this guy was confident that they would fit thickness wise and would suit a chrome bore................ might be worth a look

You can read through this site:
http://www.hastingsmfg.com
then email when w/your bore/stroke/cylinder wall construction/ring widths and they'll set you up...for probably less than 25usd per set. They'll be as good as OEM, if not better.

I inquired at Gowanlock's a couple of months ago for a set of rings for my 906 and they were going for about $280 per piston.

For that price, get a set of hi-comp piston that come with rings.

You have to make sure the ring widths are the same on the JE pistons as the Ducati ones. This isn't too hard to measure though.
A ring company like Hastings is going to be able to match up anything, if you give them bore, ring thickness and wall material. Deves is another reputable ring manufacturer, and they make a lot of European M/C rings:

One other thing - are you sure you need rings? Chrome rings (which I'm pretty the Ducati ones are) on a nickasil bore can last 100s of thousands of miles. Did a compression check show you needed them?

Thanks for the replies!
I am leaning to the Hi Comp FBF [Ferracci] set at $420.
I have checked Hastings and woukld just need to get the mesurments from the garage.
The reason is that the rings are wrong, the oil ring is about 3mm too small, yep thats 3mm! rockers have flat spots and exhaust guides are very loose, So a full rebuild to now go with a complete restoration.
I ended up buying another 91 907 today with Jaffas fantastic help.
A rather tasty Xmas present!
