Can any one advise if the above R/R is ok for the 89 750 Sport please? the ebay seller describes it as a UK made pattern part - Electrex RR51 single phase R/R with a wire for a warning light, he states Ducati used 3 different types during the 89 build period and can't say for certain it will suit, anyone used one or recommend another type / source? price of this one is £71.24 gbp Thank you Jon

That R/R should work just fine. Two yellow wires to the alternator, Postive and Negative, and one for the warning light. The several different varieties mostly had slightly different connectors on them. They were all single phase, and the later SS/Monster series had higher output alternators, so this R/R should live a long and happy life in your bike. For a bulletproof installation, solder the wires (eliminate the connectors), and ground the case of the R/R.

Cheers,

I don`t have a Sport but the regulator was the same on many bikes over many years incl. all Pasos, 851, SS etc.
I wonder if there really 3 different types used for the Sport.

Regarding the price don`t rely on ebay to be the cheapest option. Most times it isn`t. In this case going directly to Electrex will save you GBP10.

Thanks for the info chaps will have to find that soldering iron - long time since i used one!
Electrex are selling the R/R direct on ebay and when VAT and postage is taken into account the ebay route is actually £2.17 cheaper!! it all helps  john
