Doing the cuddle

Hi all,

After successfully completing the wiring upgrade and getting the bike running again it was time to tackle the carb slides. The idling has always been erratic and I figured now was as good a time as any to try and sort it.

Taking the slides off the carbs revealed a whopping dent in both the slides.

Out came the files and after a while the slides were smooth again:

So all that was left was to pop the slides back in... Nobody told me how fiddly that can be! The throttle is pretty heavy and the spings on the Dell's require a lot of effort to push back. I found that if I pulled the throttle cable up ( against the spring pressure) where it enters the carb it was much easier to put the slide back in the carb.

With the slides back in the carbs I rigged up the fuel tank I put together today. I went to a local lawn mower shop and got a second-hand tank with some fuel hose and a valve. It works great and I was pretty pleased with this setup.

Now it was time for Skin's "Ducati Cuddle". Followed all the steps and Hey Presto! Idling nicely at 1000 revs. I'll take the bike for a ride tomorrow. The weather forecast is not too great, but summer is not far away in the Southern hemisphere!

Skins, I take my hat off to your grand pooh-bah-ness for your excellent procedure.

Mike

I LOVE the gas tank solution!!! I have tried many things and this seems to be the most simple. I can go down to the junk yard have grab on and use it!!

Skins detail and procedure is the fix for this task. It's genius!
