Re: lower bolt on the rear shock?
that and a torque wrench for a longer lever should do the job.

Have you tried an impact wrench or impact driver on it? The hammering movement of an impact wrench usually helps where brute force fails.

Re: lower bolt on the rear shock?
Hi Nnnnnnorman , If you can turn that bolt but its still stuck its probly rotating the lower eye bush in the shock , if you cant turn it its probly stuck in the ally casting , which is better , but either way I would try to remove the shock and the bottom link together and move it all to the work bench,. Once you have figured where it seized ( bottom eye or the casting ) and have properly supported the bit you will probly have to drive it out with a hammer and punch, a press would be better but...... . If its anything like my swingarm pivot bolt . When you reassemble the thing , smear a bit of copperslip , or some anti seizure compound ( the lid was stuck on mine ) to make things easy in the future. There is every chance that your the 1st person to try to remove this bolt . If the swing arm is also seized
the 4 bushes in the little pic that I have arrowed are the most likley , especially the inner bush for the 2 needle berrings on the left side , to sieze onto the pivot shaft. If they do seize you will see that the pivot shaft will rotate freely with any bush its siezed to , so turning it wont help . I wound up lying the bike on its left side , with the frame around the swing arm pivot supported , and bashed it out with a log splitter. good luck Nnnnnorman

Re: lower bolt on the rear shock?
yes. success. after a bit of heat a lot of spray and plenty of club hammer the lower shock bolt is out. it took a long breaker bar to get it moving in the alloy sleaves and a good thumping from the hammer to free it from the central 'collet'? it was corroded into. copper slip for re assembly. now all i have to do is rebuild the unit before it goes back in. thanks for the advice guys.

hackjob alert
never use brute force in place of finesse
especially where aluminium and timkin bearings are used.never never never

Re: lower bolt on the rear shock?
thanks. on closer inspection the top eye of the shock is cracking. should i weld or replace this part or start looking for a new unit alltogether?
