have you considered a rebuild?

the marzocchi Duoshock is a preatty good unit, the overhauling kit is still available (on ebay AND also through the Ducati stores) and the procedure is not difficult.

The service manual can be found on internet and if you dont want to do it is just a matter of taking it to a service point of any brand with the service kit and the manual and they will do it for 100$ or thereabouts.

The service manual can be found on internet
For example in our downloads section http://www.box.net/shared/hxsggbv6sl
I`m always very sceptical about used shocks. One actually never knows if the "new" one is much better than the old one.

I totally agree with you., after 10000 miles the unit need and overhaul anyway so there is no point in using it as a replacement foir another old one. :truck: :truck:

Purchasing a 2nd hand unit is is a good idea only when you get EXACTLY the same as yours, you overhaul it and then you fit the new "reconditioned" and keep the old one as spare.

This way you can actually do the swap traight away (2hs job?) without having to stop and store a disassembled bike for a week.

I just started overhauling a Duoshock unit (little knackered but was very cheap) and i managed to buy for 30 EUROS a OHLINS form a PASO750

30 EUROS!!!!!!!!!!! I know it will cost me 200 quid ti fixit (spring & overhauling) in an Ohlins center, but hey, Ohlins is Ohlins...

I can't wait to have it on the bike and try it.

yes a rebuild is probably a better option. the top eye on my duo is cracked so that will need welding up.
gues i had better take the plunge and buy the rebuild kit. thanks   :)

Generally there`s WORKS Performance, HAGON, Bitubo which are the cheapest options. The best is for sure WILBERS (these you can have made as you wish w/ or w/o rebound adjuster, w/ or w/o ride height adjustment etc. etc.).

I don`t know if WHITE POWER or OEHLINS have something for the Paso, may be worth checking

Surely Öhlins have "something" for Paso, no matter do U have 750, 906, or 907IE, as same unit fits to all.... But U have to find then one used one from early 750 Paso...Best of all, if thinking spend money / quality and still totally possible to rebuild with just normal costs with new spare parts from Öhlins.... My "vote" goes to Öhlins, as it is really very good product... :smoke:

My original shock still seams to be working very nicely. :)
I was mainly interested to know how well the aftermarket supports our bikes now that they are 20 years old.
After learning about the problems with finding tires to fit stock wheels I'm paying attention to any other areas I need to be concerned about.
This forum has been terriffic help!

are you on 16" wheels and are you sticking with them? i am as they, to me, are part of the 906's appeal and unique character. :)

16" wheels look good, but no new Michelin tires for them. Not so bad idea to convert to 17", but surely not so good looking then.....
