Need header info
Does anybody know what the "route" is on the header pipes? In other words are they 2 into 1 into 2? If not what is the purpose of the "X" junction under the engine?

I think it's still referred to as 2-into-2; the crossover is really only a junction that serves to equalize pressure and duty through both cans. Like Gwenadu said, if you block one can, you'll see all the exhaust come from the other - but you'll probably also notice the performance start to dip, since you only have one can to pass all the exhaust. Having the crossover helps maintain backpressure to the non-exhausting cylinder as well.
Just because you're not dead doesn't necessarily mean you're living, either.

Thanks guys. I'm getting a little backfiring under 1/3 throttle and it appears that it seems to only be coming from the right pipe. If I get on it (above about 4k) it goes away and it is not there at idle (under 1k). I was hoping to assume that if it was one pipe then I could figure out which cylinder was the problem. I guess I'll have to once again strip the plastic to get to the guts.

I'm running the Dell's also but I think this may be more than a lean/rich problem. I got the bike back from a local shop a couple of weeks ago (not a Duc shop just a local tuner (Vance & Hines)). They sync'd the carbs and the bike ran the best it's ever ran. I rode it for a couple of days. It sat for about 2 days and when I went to ride it yesterday the backfiring and popping was there from the moment it started. I think it is still part of the random Magneti Marelli ignition problems. I was hoping to be able to tell what cylinder it was by listening to the exhaust but since it combines I need to tear the plastic off and see if I can trace it down.
