Trouble Removing Seat

Hey guys! So I was out in the garage earlier this morning and saw the oil level was low in the Paso so I figured why not add a little as it would take a mere minute. A minute turned into an hour of sitting, trying, and pondering how to remove the seat. The locking mechanism that holds the seat on broke away from the actual lock itself. I put the key in, turn the lock, and pull the lock out. However, the seat remains attached to the bike as the latch does not unhook so I can remove the seat. Never had this problem before and I am at a loss as to what to do.

Any advice or anyone ever have this happen to them before? I thought about removing panels to work around the seat and pop it off or unlock it a different way... but the panels are all covered by the seat so that plan backfired.

Hopefully I can get this taken off with your help!

Thanks,
Dustin

A lot of the seats don't stay latched anyway so I would think it would not be too difficult to use something flat, as in no sharp edges and pry the rear of the seat forward away from the pin that actually holds it in place.

Most of the issues have been how to fix a latch that won't hold the seat in place

Thanks Higgy! I hadn't thought of that, but did push the seat forwards a few times seeing if that would have helped it so the lock would grab. I'll make that work!

Thanks again!

also press down the seat as it often sits too high blocking the locking pin. Press the seat down and the lock in, maybe it will grab the pin and pull it out.

i had a similar issue with the seat lock but for a different reason ( i lost the key) and manage to remove the seat by removing the tail light lens and manually press the small lock pin and pull the back the seat pin.

it is a little to do all of this but it worked for me.

You lnow it should be quite easy - from memroy the pin is threaded into the lock shift the seat forward as far as possible then get someone to sit on the rider portion of the seat.
Grabe the rear corners of the seat and pull directly up - there shoudl be enough flex in the seat base for it to pop past the lock tab. Alternatively this may give you enough clearance to get a small set of needle nose pliers in and shuffle the pin back

(can you tell I've used both methoids in the past ? )

Hey guys! Thanks for the advice on my seat problems. Turns out the pin was no longer threaded into the key lock. So I just took one of my many flat head screwdrivers and slowly pried the seat forward till it came up. Then took about a minute to screw the pin back in. Works good as new!

Greatly appreciate the help!!

Thanks,
