Yeah , broke my friggin leg ( again ). I have 2 new dvd's doco's about Troy Bayliss and motorcycle racing in australia 1900- 1960. Watched troy and had just got up to change dvd , took a step or two and it just broke ,about 3" above my knee.Turns out that the graft has not been growing properly which has allowed the pin to flex and good old metal fatigue has set in and the pin has broken thru the top most screw hole , probly some time ago , and the graft gave up completely on sunday ( so Higgy , your right on the mark there
)
After years of taking the piss at aussies, it just had to be aussie dvd's I was watching ............ but thats not all folks , seems the way forward, according to the bone Dr's is to remove pin and old bone graft, fit new ( bigger ) pin ream femur to fit it , and go for a different type of graft. Rather than crushing femoral heads ( recovered from hip replacements ), mixing in a bit more of my hips and packin it round the pin they are getting some whole bone sections and will shape them to fit the void and graft em in . These bone sections are not available in NZ, and have to come from ........ can hardly bring myself to say it.......Australia
fair suck of the sav Colin
aussie bone in my leg( serious for a second here , I do realise that some young australian person , and their family must have had much worse luck than me for this bone to be available, and I will always spare a thought for whoever they were ) .
I have been thinking of the ways that this could affect me. I dont play cricket , I sorta know the words to waltzing Matilda , already like BBQ'd shrimps, and there is no way a kiwi would look lustfully at a sheep, ( see what I mean ! , Im already starting to tell lies
). So come on you aussies , what have I got to look forward to
