Avon AM39 Front Tyre

Post by speedtrifle »

I notice that the Honda Fireblade has (or had) an Avon Am39 130/70ZR16 front tyre.

Has anyone tried this tyre on their Paso?

It strikes me that a taller aspect front tyre might sought out the rather lazy turn-in characteristic the Paso posesses in comparison with more modern models.

Any thoughts?

Steve.

Have you tried raising the rear ride height and putting the rear axle in the lower position to quicken the steering, Steve?

I think the axle is in the lower position.

Is there true ride height adjustment or is it just a question of increasing the spring preload?

Steve, the Paso in the pic on our site Home Page has the axle in the lower position, raising the back of the bike, and making the steering quicker.

I have raised the back also by increasing spring preload on my Marzocchi unit, which works fine for me.
