New to Me 907ie

I picked up Bob Rotondo's 907ie which has the BCM 944 motor/ chip and Ferraci pipes. It had a big seat tear in it, so a couple of evenings, some leather, and a sewing machine took care of that. It had a Corbin vinyl seat in it so I disassembled it and used that for the pattern.
I've changed the oil and coolant, it get's a new battery tomorrow. What a great ride! The riding position and shifter position are so different from my 748. I went to buy new coolant hoses but silly me, they're out of production. What do you do?

Very nice, how do you like the motor campaired to the 748? I was considering a 944kit.... Where are you at in Maine, we should go for a ride sometime.

Seat looks good, Charley. Don't forget that there are 1" bar risers that you can take out if you want it a little more like your 748.

I did not know that there were bar risers than can be removed. I may try that. The bigger problem is the position of my left foot compared to the shifter. I am going to have to adjust that one. I have to ride the 907 in the country a bit and ride them back to back to give them a fair comparison. I've been hindered by traffic to really play with it. R&B, I live in Durham right now and work in Lewiston.

Nice, that can be a good ride on the back roads! I know Durham, bought a nice crew cab f350 from a guy over there years ago, and I go to Golden Rod garage from time to time... I may be interested in those risers for my dad if you decide to remove them..

Thanks, yeah I saw them but he lives like 30 min away from me; a good excuse to take a ride....

I'll try riding with and without. The upright position is fine and comfortable, and I do have the 748 for more aggressive riding and track days. My big problem was the shifter position and I have adjusted it to better suit me. The last 907 I rode had a GP shift on it and I really liked it. I am contemplating switching both bikes over. It is much easier on the track, makes it hard for someone to get on and steal, and I would want both bikes to be the same so I don't have to think about it !
