BALLISTIC BATTERY

Killed my battery by leaving it on a trickle charger on float charge about 6 mos. ago. I haven't been riding the Duc that much. Boiled all the water out. Just got tired of the crap batteries, so I looked into the LiFEPO4.

I bought this one... the Ballistic 8 Cell from these guys:

Super lightweight. Cranks the bike over better too. Had it since January and as claimed no need for a charger to keep the voltage up.

They posted a pic of my bike in the project bike gallery.

Best of all I like the Ducati Red...

I bought the Airtech lightweight replacement front fairing. It was rough, so I filled it in and replaced the headlight with multiple halogens/leds. Just made an aluminum plate that mounts to the headlight bracket to hold the lights. The OEM fairing can be replaced in 15 minutes.

However, as I posted in the "let me introduce my bike...." post not as bright as the big rectangle.

point...! I did it for looks and just for fun/save weight. The big reflector of the OEM is hard to beat. I did this a few years back and LED and HID technology has really increased. I would recommend these for LEDs. Very inexpensive and low wattage (less drain on elect. for more candle power)

I might also look into one HID light. So I would have 2 smaller running lights for day and 1 or 2 LED wide beam / projectore or an HID in there 2.

Just an experiment.

The great thing about the LEDs is they put out alot of light for very little wattage.

Negative is its a weird luminescent kind of light... hard to describe, but not as good as incandescent.

I have bought an Odyssey PC535 on February.
No need of any charge from, in spite of I seldom ride my bikes.
I would be curious about a comparison between.

do you need the charger from them and how harmfull/sensitiv are these battery for draining deep?

I never use a charger on mine. The battery can sit for 1 - 2 years with no trickle charger and still start the bike right up! When I'm not riding the bike or out of town, I simply disconnect the negative (-) terminal to make sure there is no parasitic drain. Also a theft deterrent.

The batteries can be harmed from a deep drain, just like any battery, so I don't trust the clock! I check the voltage every week, but I think the clock would run the battery down given enough time.

Best thing about the battery is it actually gives better starts than the old lead acid.

Pencilbeam, this is convincing.
now to get one to the Netherlands is the next thing.
I've been looking for LiFePo4 batteries in Holland and found out the prices are double than yours. That's simply not justfying the benefits.
good old lead/acid in AGM technology will be the next best solution.
Varta announces 260 Amp as CCA value for the AGM battery suitable for the 907.

Bertus, I don`t know what the Varta weighs but I took a YTX20CH-BS (AGM) for my P750. It`s listed with 270CCA and has a size that fits the P750, hence it`s smaller and probably also lighter than the one of the 906/907ie. The YTX20CH-BS is used on Guzzi Breva/Griso/Norge/Bellagio/1200 Sport.

the whole range from 750 Paso up to latest 907's use the same battery.
IMO there isn't much difference between Yuasa and Varta in price and performance. generel price in Holland is € 130 to € 140 and 260/270 CCA, weight is about 6 kg.
looking at the 12 cel Sycl battery, they're talking about 440 Amp CCA, the weight is 1.1 kg and $ 190 is about € 132 . this had to be added with shipping costs.
the Ballistic is still interesting for my.

I think you would be in good shape going with the 12 cell. I'm not looking at my battery box now but the 12 cell is 112mm (L) x 86mm (W) x 103mm (H)....

What's the coldest temps you go out in the Netherlands?

Bertus you´re wrong. The battery compartment/inner fender of P750 and 906/907ie is different. The battery compartment of the 750 is smaller (narrower). You could never fit a Hawker/Odyssey or similar ones.
I did wonder how guys fitted big batteries in their bikes. Antti then confirmed to me that they are different. I then bought an inner fender from a 906 just in case I`d want a bigger battery.

as I haven't personally checked the dimensions of battery tray, you must be right. there must also a difference between the innerfender of a 907 to hold the big P7 ECU and the 906, which uses the small MM ignition module.
Are there 3 different versions of the inner fender?

Tomorrow I check the dimensions carefully for a 12 cel Ballistic. I've sent an information request this afternoon and the reply came within 2 hours.
They have no dealers in Germany of the Netherlands, but do regular shipping at an estimated cost of $ 45. I already got a $ 10 bonus to overcome the shipping charge.
it's very tempting to make this deal.
