Hi,
Just want to share this with all of you.
Today I was riding through town when suddenly CLUNCK the engine seized at once. I stopped in the street and the oil was dripping on the pavement.
I think I need some time in the shed...
Cheers Joep

Joep,
was that your 900 motor? does that mean you have a spare 750 motor?
Indeed, I see some shed time in your future. Bummer dude.

Thanks for the replies.
Yeah its the 900 engine. Did not have enough time to check what has happend. Still have the 750 which is in bad shape. But not as bad as the 900
Thanks again

Hi,
Found out that the alternator cover was cracked. Suspect a run loose flywheel. It was me who torqued up and loctited the nut the last time....
Normally I do not use a puller to get the cover off. This time I will need one but I first have to make one.
Speak to you soon.
Joep

OK,
Got the cover off and found a crack alternator rotor, which had seized the engine. How can this happen?

Not much,
Like I said: cracked rotor which dislocated the altenator and that cracked the side cover. I do not know why the rotor got cracked in the first place but I did put it on so I think I have only myself to blame....
I currently looking at the orignal 750s engine the bike came with. I'm planning to overhaul it. So far I found 750 ss (low compression) pistons inside and what I believe to much play on the conrod big ends.
I'm also moving from one shed to an other. That doesn't help in the progress.
Thanks for asking
Cheers Joep

if you hit a stator rotor with anything, its history. Can't drop them either.
Rare earth magnets are very easy to fracture. There are 14 rare earth magnets encased in lightweight aluminium making up the rotor. once any of the 14 are cracked its just a matter of time till the whole assembly comes apart. My guess is when it siezed inside the stator you probably twisted the crankshaft also at the very least.
On a positive note they does seem to be a fair supply of engines around most of the time

most likely reason is overtightening the nut.
It`s essential it`s torqued correctly.
