Here's another prototype for Paso. It had a 1000 engine from a MHR with the upper head twisted . The frame too is interesting

Is that an original prototype or something someone built ?
There are interesting details like the F1 wheels, the forks with the rebound adjuster on the left leg and it mounted upside down. The four piston calipers and the rear brake on the left side.
Those high handlebars are not nice but probably comfy.

That picture can be seen in Alan Cathcart's "Ducati - The Untold Story", featuring factory racers, prototypes and specials. Published by Osprey in 1987.
Cagiva commissioned Massimo Tamburini to design a new frame for the 1000 Mille engine and that's what he came up with. Although a preliminary batch of frames were built it never made it to production. Instead, the overall design layout led directly to the Paso.
