888 for sale?

As most of you know I spent some time - and a certain amount of money - looking for a 907ie toolkit. I found one, and, in the process, I acquired a complete toolkit for an 888.

Problem? I don't have an 888 . . . so . . . I am currently looking for an 888.

If anyone has one they'd like to sell to a loving home please give me a call (as it were).

Naturally I'd prefer a low mileage, low number of owners example that needs no work and with as much history as possible. Will happily look at an SP model.

Rhino; You are looking something what "nowbody" can get...... Ok, You can get, but You dont EVER have so much money or want to spend so much money to get "SUCH" 888... I know one VERY GOOD 888 SP4 but owner of it will need HUGE amount of money from it and he never speak about selling it ..... ..."life is life", Rhino! :) Be little more "realistic" Anyway, I wish good luck to You that You find very good toolkit ... :)

Hey Finnpaso - I didn't put how much I was prepared to spend so please don't think that I figure I can get one for nothing. Those days are gone. I am perfectly realistic.

I didn't buy an 888 Strada last year that I was offered for £3,750. Yeah I feel a fool.

I can get one that needs no work, 25,000 miles, standard bike, in red, no tools and some history (mileage provable) for £4,750. I will try to get him down to £4,500 and if the bike checks out OK I might just go for it.

All the SPs are big money but I don't want to spend that much - there's a beautiful 888 SP3 near here - two owners, immaculate, with full Ducati history which I can get for under £10,000 but that's a bit too specialised for me I think and - if I'm honest - too much money.

We'll see how the hunt goes and I'll keep you all informed.

10000 for an immaculate SP3 is not so much, at least for the Italian market.
I think a decent one is not sold under 16k euros...
Ciao

Search for an 888 is over.

Just bought an 851 on E-bay - hey they're not so different . . ..

If thinking about basic 851 and 888 SP4: There are not so many common things and they are totally another bikes... ALSO another price surely !!!

Agreed Finnpaso

I was however talking about the 851 Strada and the 888 Strada - they are not so different.

The SP series are, in effect, race homologation bikes, and sadly my testicles - like my wallet - just ain't big enough!!

The new addition to the stable. Sorry I think I messed up the photos sizes and I'm unsure how to re-size them.

The bike really is Ducati RED not pink! I'll try to get some new/decent pictures when I'm down in Wales next (a few weeks)

It's quite nice - I think I did well for £3K

Lovely bike Rhino, I had a 888 Strada for a couple of years and had great fun on it. I like the earlier white framed bikes with the fuller bodywork, classic ducati style. They're a lot lighter than the 888 as well with an alloy tank I believe.

Great bike Rhino, just like the one i've got, however i find the 907 just as good to ride, if not faster.

Thanks 900streetfighter and julek780 - still grinning.

Going back to Wales in a couple of weeks and may finally get to see it. Yep, that's right, still never laid eyes on it. I'm going to go down to Wales in a couple of weeks and move it from my girlfriends garage to my garage and "No" my wife doesn't know about the bike (or the girlfriend).

And for those of you who are too polite to ask: "Yes" I have an orignal owners handbook AND a complete original toolkit!! (Coz Mc tool was going to ask sooner or later)
