Starter issue..I'm sure this topic has been discussed, but here i go. Had not run the 907 over the winter and although the battery was on a tender it was shot..After installing a new one the bike started but had some chatter in the starter..Tried starting a week later now the starter engauges for a second, turns over the engine and then kicks out the selenoid and just spins..Give me the bad news..I need to hear it from the experts. Thanks guys

here is some info:
Chances are the sprag clutch spring has weakened or come apart. A replacement spring from an oil seal (part # CR 19778) for around $6- works perfectly.
The part # CR 19778 is for an oil seal (CR is for Chicago Rawhide - the maunfacturer). The seal (probably a grease seal) has a spring around the inside of the rubber lip. That spring is a perfect replacement for the starter sprag spring in the starter sprag assembly. Throw the seal away and keep the spring... that's all you need.

Thanks.. the side cover is off and I'll get a little further along tomorrow. Kinda new to these motors. I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to freshen up the starter while I'm at it.

its not too bad, i actually did it on my parents front porch before i bought my house with a garage.
just remember to note where those side cover bolts went , as they are different lengths.

Thanks guys. Took it apart and the spring was shot. I got the seal, pulled out the spring and it's back together with all the bolts in the right places and starting just fine..Appreciate all the advice because I didn't have a clue...I'll never claim to be a mechanic but with your help I'm one step closer..
