Tail light fitting

I needed to replace both rear lamps

, so I took the tail light cover apart.
Really, that was'nt so smooth, but the worst is that now I'm not able to fit the cover again.
I'm scared to break the plastic cover that, as you know, is very hard to find by now.
Is there some trick to fit it again, avoiding to break it and/or to dismantle the whole back side of the bike?

Hi Francesco,
never thought this would be difficult. I've replaced one of the bulbs a while ago, but don't remember any difficulties in sliding the cover back to its base.
I think you have to look carefully that some notches slide in the right slot.
rusty bolts are a greater concern to me.
in case of a mishap with your cover, I can supply a spare.

Did you remove the tail piece before trying to fit the lens back on? The tail piece, the body part with the key lock for the seat needs to be removed to make replacing the lens easier. Also the dividing pieces between the turn signal bulb and the brake light/tail light bulbs can move when you are trying to put the lens back on.

I think I had the same trouble: the rubber seem not to fit to the plastic cover and I feared not to be able to fit it correctly. A couple of sharp screwdrivrs will be helpful

Credo di aver avuto lo stesso problema: la guarnizione sembra troppo grossa per la lente e forza per entrare. con pazienza e cacciaviti a taglio piccoli, ce la puoi fare

you need the black plastic parts that seperate the brake light from the turn signals. These work as a spacer between the housing and the lens. If you don`t have them it`s likely you`ll crack your lens when you try to tighten its screws.

Done.
I have taken the tail piece away, so I managed to fit it easily.
Many thanks everybody
