US vs EURO style rear break light

Post by gpsheehan »

Can someone tell me how to tell the difference between the two? And if you replace the US version with the EURO versions is there much work to do the conversion?
Thanks

EU taillight with amber/red lens and incorporated turn signals
US taillight all red with external turn signals (the taillight has no reflectors for turn signals)
Fitting the EU taillight on a US bike is moretheless plug and play.

Your bike was most probably a batch that either were returned from the USA as unsold or has been diverted to the UK. Otherwise it has been imported via the Grey Motorcycle market that was rampant in the UK during the late eighties and early nineties.

Check your log book as it should say if it was "otherwise" imported.

hopefully it wasn`t like mine. Mine came with a Euro taillight and a speedometer in km/h but temperature gauge in °F. I knew it was an US import but didn`t question if there still was its original mph speedometer to verify the original milage. A mistake as I found the pink slip under the seat and contacted the last owner in the US ... :?
