I just had to ride the $350 paso before it got cold....
Now that its getting cold it's getting torn apart to reseal the engine rebuild the forks, fix the body work, reseal the calipers, etc.

the fork clamp bolts were not even close to finger tight on the right side.

the chain is so stiff i can use it to form a coat hanger.

front sprocket is wobbling its way off the shaft.

regulator wires are rotted and almost touching each other.

there are hot wires hanging open all over the bike.

it seems like absolutely everything on this bike had been messed with by a total amateur and assembled incorrectly.

i will post some pictures this weekend.

anybody know where to get piston rings?
I will be making a want list this weekend for things i need to get it all safe and back together before it starts to warm up again.

That for $350 you only get a project bike is clear and it`s a small wonder that for that money it`s complete.

The piston rings (#090547490) are the same for 750 Paso, Sport, SS (91/94), 750SSie, F1, 1000 MHR-2/ S2, Monster (97-00) and probably some others. Duc parts suppliers or your local dealer should have no problem getting them, did you try ?

ok, its completely apart. only 3 broken bolts to deal with.
gotta remake the wiring harness and make a chain slider.

there is 1 head nut giving me trouble but the other cylinder head is off and doesnt look too bad. (considering it only had 100psi.)

gonna do a valve job, and rings, anybody have extra shims they wanna trade with me when i find out what sizes i need?

there were 2 wires cut at a sensor located above the clutch on the case. is that neutral light?

if that switch is on the rear right of the engine and the wires are a yellow/green and a black, yes

Speaking of that neutral switch - gotta make sure that's nice & tight. Should be a couple brass washers on it. It points directly at the rear tire/rear brake and likes to spit oil if it's not snugged up tight. Which might be fine if that's where the chain was, but not so much for the rear brake. Ask me how I know.
