I am after an additional set of wheels for my 907, I already have the rear one but I am still missing the front.
I am looking online and there are several options available, from old 600-750-900SS with the same shape of the "spokes", but with a different part number 501.2.014.1.A
The original 907 part# is 501.2.004.1.A
Somehow I have the feeling they are exactly the same (probably a different supplier) but before committing to the purchase I wanted to verify my assumptions.
Does anybody know?

Re: 907 front wheel compatibility
The wheel I have , I only suspect its from a 907 or 851 , has a different speedo drive set up than the 97 SS I had , so that could be the diff ..... not a biggie but still more $$$$$
I wish I was young again............Id be heaps smarter than last time

Re: 907 front wheel compatibility
Angelix, it takes a bit of detective work to find out the difference but anyone can figure it out.
The white rims were only on the 907ie, '89-91 851 and almost all '90-92 SSs.
If you check the parts catalogues you see the part number of the rim includes the bearings and bearing spacer.
If you then compare the front axle, bearing and bearing spacer part number you`ll notice they are the same for the 907ie and 851 but not the 900SS. Continue the research by googling the bearing part numbers and you`ll find out that all have the same od and width but the ones of the 907ie/851 have an id of 17mm the ones of the 900SS are 20mm. A '92 750SS has 17mm bearings, the '94 750SS has 20mm bearings. The reason could be a different axle diameter or bearing spacer design.
The bare rim is the same.

Re: 907 front wheel compatibility
I thought so... I did check my "paperwork" and I though the difference could well be just in the spacers and bearing or in the manufacturers locations (sometime the same parts manufactured in different locationa for two different models have difference part numbers, I was told), but I was somehow hoping that someone here had the information at hand and could share it with me (all )paso750 wrote:Angelix, it takes a bit of detective work to find out the difference but anyone can figure it out.

I am also sure that the ST2 wheels could go up with little modification (if none) and these should be even lighter, but I would like to preserve the 907 ie original appeareance (although mine has a full 916 brake system and cast iron Discacciatis)
I always wanted to get a nice WHITE set of wheels that I can fit without having to take apart my bike and wait for the powder coating to do my wheels (the previous owner painted them grey) ; I only use the bike when I am visiting my parents in Italy, therefore I am always short of time and cannot afford having the bike in pieces waiting for some work to be done.
While I am doing the job I will also omologate the 180 at the rear as there is much more choice of rubber (the legal omologation is a must in Italy)
Anyway, thanks G. for your help, I really apreciated it.
I will be sending you a PM...900streetfighter wrote:I have spare 907 front wheel for sale. I'm in Essex. £75 + pp.

Re: 907 front wheel compatibility
The ST's have a 25mm spindle diameter so you'd need to play round with the bearings but I think the wheel itself should be ok.angelix wrote:I am also sure that the ST2 wheels could go up with little modification (if none) and these should be even lighter

Angelix,
the 180 rear tyre is already homologated.
On my papers is clearly written. If you have got an Italian 907 with Italian papers, try to check out. Let us know. Ciao

My papers only show the 170 , unfortunately.
I did request the "nulla Osta" (authorization) from Ducati and they sent it to me straight away, but to get it on the bike papers i need to complete the process through the Mototorizzazione (Italian DVLA)
I have time though, I just fitted a set of new tires, so it will be next time when I need to replace the rear.

Ducati mystery? listen this one: some time ago I requested Ducati a declaration indicating the PRODUCION YEAR so I could use it to get the Road Tax EXEMPTION for over 20s.... they replied that my bike # 2000315 was manufactured in 1989 !!!!!!!!!!
