I'm almost at the end of doing my first 907ie oil change. Following the somewhat limite instructions for the manual, I'm at the point where I need to remove the basket, but the frame is making it difficult. I'm worried I may break it if it's forced too much. Also I see there is a screw underneath that May may actually prevent it from coming out, but there's no mention of it in the manual.

Can anyone lend me their experience?

the lower frame rails are removable for a reason.
That screw is only blocking a passage way.

Remove the lower frame rail. Leave the screw where it is.

As a next discussion on this topic, I am also doing a minor maintenance on the bike. Changed belts and oil, oilfilter. All nice and no metal parts on the screenmof the first filter. Also included a new oilfilter and topped it up with fresh oil 10W50.

Now on the level of the oil. It mentioned a hot engine. Kept the engine running shortly, turned it off and waited for the oil to set again.
However how should the level be read:
- as the bike is on the centerstand,
- as the bike is on both wheels and upright

Topped in some 3 ltrs of oil however level is already above max and filling requires 3,5 ltrs. Did fill up the oil filter before fitting so that took some oil too. So I am some 0,5 ltr. short still. What am I doing wrong? '92 907. Carter and clutchare identical as to my SSC '97.

My 900 SSC is also warm motor, engine of, wait till the oils settles, upright on both wheels and measure than.
