Valve Advice on my 1990 900SS

Post by The Paua Poacher »

Fellas

Without a doubt you boys know your stuff so here is the next question in my build (just had frame back from the painter & looks awesome)

I know what & where I am getting for the balance of my build (just about to press that button) but am stuck on the Top End

I will do valves, seats, guides, etc, etc (do it all whilst apart)

Was going to use OEMCycle with Kibblewhite gear as follows (obviously standard)

0926-1184 VALVE EX DUC 900 2V 38MM
0926-1182 VALVE IN DUC 900 2V 43MM
0926-1186 GUIDE VALVE IN STD DUC900
0926-1188 GUIDE VALVE EX STD DUC900

But on enquiry they dont do Valve Seats that go with these valves (I wanted to make sure the parts I ordered would fit)

Advice fellas on alternatives who can do the whole lot in one order ...

a. am I looking at the correct parts for my machine?
b. what other options are there?
c. is there a better product?
d. can I use any other brand Seats (pretty obvious but throw it in there)

Regards The Poacher

Whats wrong with the old stuff . I pulled mine apart at 67000k's and after measuring the shit outa everything all I could find was slightly loose ex valve guide clearance........even the rings were good. I lapped the valves and chucked it back together :)
I wish I was young again............Id be heaps smarter than last time

agree ^ valve seat change is drastic and often the head is never quite the same unless done carefully. If the seats aren't recessed badly or damaged then it's pointless changing them.
