What do you mean with "Gallery plugs" Can you identify the item on the spare parts manual?

Items 3 and 4 in this drawing

No torque value is given in the manual but Loctite 222 is recommended when fitting them. I think it's also good practice to peen the outer edge with a centre punch to help prevent them unscrewing.

Yeah you sure don't want them coming loose ( and its not unheard of ). I like the (well planned ) blob of weld, well planned as in think about where the blob goes with a mind to having to grind it off at some later stage without chewing up to much parent metal

Damn my sausage fingers I already posted response but must have dropped off when I logged on so second response

Thanks for the response

Yup Oil Gallery plugs as per above

After a good cleanup ... new bottom & topend shells/bushes, con rod bolts replaced then new plugs (care of stein's) installed with loctite & staked ... the crank will be balanced with the new High Comps (the only non standard part of my build as easy to change back if needed for genuine standard machine) along with new mains bearings (for that matter I now have all replacement bearings for the whole machine)

All done at a friendly shop an hours drive away ...well worth the drive & the cash for that piece of mind
