The battery strap is the one thing that is missing from my 1991 907ie, so I need to get a compatible one that will do the job.
Anybody got a photo of one in situ, please?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply paso750.
Oh, how very odd!
All my bikes have had a means of holding the battery securely in place, usually a rubber strap under tension. In fact, I think it might be an MOT failure (in the UK) to not have an appropriate means of holding the battery securely in place, in case of an accident.

Any one else got any ideas?

I`m sure it`s not mandatory as in all the years on the forum I`ve never heard about this.
But there`s a frame rail just under the battery compartment so you could cut two slots in the bottom of the plastic and secure the battery with a velcro (luggage) strap.

My battery is secured by wedging pieces of foam (sponge) either side of it. It has never failed an MOT in all the years I have owned it. My brother in law has a 907 too and there is no strap on his either. Don't worry about it!

ok. The general consensus appears to be that there never was any means of securing the battery on the 907, so I shall cease to concern myself about it.
Thank you all for your very useful comments.

Like Rogero I stuffed something next to the battery so it wouldn`t move. I gave a velcro strap a try now (60-75cm is a good length). Made two cuts on the bottom of the battery compartment. The one on the rear side shouldn`t be exactly on the edge as on the bottom side there`s the plastic extension where the rubber mud flap is mounted to. Actually you can see the center bolt through the rear cut.
