Wiggy 851 - fueling issue

Hi Guys

I have 851 as well as 907IE. I am having issues with my 851. Maybe someone has had the same problem. When the fuel level gets down to 8 litres left, the bike starts to feel like it is running out of fuel. If you go WOT and then hit the binders it will stall out every time and when there is 4 litres of fuel left, it is out of fuel. I have already replaced the fuel pump and filter. The pressure regulator is new as well. None of the bike shops I have gone to can figure it out. Any ideas would be a big help.

Thanks
Bonza

Hi Bonza.

Clean the injectors, replace all the internal and external fuel lines, complete with new clamps. Check all the vent hoses are clear of obstructions, particularly where they vent to the fuel cap surround (I am assuming the 851 and 907 use the same fuel cap assembly?). Drain the fuel and use it for the lawnmower. Remove the throttle bodies and give them a good clean, or get someone to clean them up. There are numerous small venturies and channels in them. Any or all of the above could be an issue. When all else fails, ride the 907!

Cheers.

Nick.

Or maybe just run some Fuel Preservative and Stabiliser through it. If it's still available, the POR15 is pretty good stuff for cleaning gummed up fuel systems.

Are you positive that the fuel pump is sitting in the tank correctly remember it sucks from the bottom of the tank and will need to be exactly positioned in it's housing. Has the rubber enclosure maybe perished?
