Haha yeah , I over ordered on the inside clutch cover pics. The alternator cover is in the wrinkle paint finish and looks pretty good in the flesh, getting the old paint off the alternator cover was a real bitch and I'm very happy with the powdercoated clutch cover. Getting a little closer but still a way to go. As soon as the engines back I'll be getting a lot more momentum and some updates.

I found the wrinkle paint to be fairly difficult to gain a consistent finish, its also hard as nails , I just hope I haven't applied too much in order to achieve an acceptable finish. I think all the little angles and nooks and crannies makes it difficult. Fingers crossed she won't form cracks and I'm back to square one as it was a lot of work to get it to this point.

I've been playing around with the rear guards for some time and getting close to buttoning that up, I like to see more of the wheel etc but also want to maintain the integrity of the original and keep the chain and road muck away as much as possible. Here's where im at so far and about to polish the aluminium and paint the guard then rivet it up. So far I can't come up with a better alternative than the shortest blind rivets I can get .

The old hugger was pretty scratched up to start with so I used a plastic primer then a high build 2k primer, then a bit of sanding . Knifing putty ,more sanding then a satin black 2k paint ,finished with a 2k matt clear . Pretty much ready to attach the ali parts tomorrow when the paint had a bit of time to harden up

Couldn't wait and subsequently paid a small price, the old rivet gun left some of the sticks protruding otherwise not too bad, I will grind them down ( when it's cured waha)

Also a couple little marks on the plastic, hardly noticeable. And reading back, I didn't mention i touched up the primer with more primer after sanding the knifing putty

Got it, merry fxxxxn Xmas, back today. As it turns out the po was truthful and the engine was in very good condition, so we basically stripped and rebuilt the engine, seals and gaskets fit the new gearbox and reshimmed it all exchanged the original cams for the ST2 cams and voila she's going back in the bike. Awesome effort from Justin, read me like a book (good solid motor,/ with no issues ,and no bloody oil leaks, no frills needed and I'd like to keep the cost down to a minimum, no big hurry at all) , ticked all the boxes, hoping to get her running and rolling over the next 2 weeks

The swingarm and shock are installed and torqued up, the rear wheel and chain/ sprockets are aligned and torqued up too. I struggled with the chain alignment and initially thought my new g/box countershaft may be wrong, fortunately all seems correct now although the chain is a little tight , I may need to replace one of the links i took out some time ago. Not sure if that's possible with what I have, I will post a couple pics, the clutch pack my be my next install, button up the rear brake then maybe the exhaust?

Cracking on a bit now, the clutch went together easily although not charged up yet, rear brake no woz but again no fluids . The exhaust is on and I'd like to say easy but that was a bit of work. I got it all tightened up and realised I had only polished 1 endcap on 1 muffler so hooked them off and back to the grindstone. Refit the oil cooler lines and the alternator leads to the regulator, the gear shift lever is hooked up, hopefully about where it needs to be. I'd like to refit the carbies about now but I need to source a new battery, gotta be smaller than the big motobatt as due to the whole carbie fitment and the bent battery tray straps . Too hard with the carbies installed. I got the hugger in with some persuasion to get her looking symetrical from the back, so my rudimentary fabrication is modified waha, anyway not too bad, but I will have to remove the left piece as the lowest rivet sits right where the chain runs, of course it does waha i said to myself as I drilled it check that one dickhead.
