Looking good mate. I have a ton of work to do on mine....not.
I think I got done by a mobile speed camera on Wednesday on of all things the Cali. Double demerits too. I haven't been fined in over 27 years too. Could be walking for a bit . Can't complain I suppose considering the things I've done over the years.
The flip side is I might finish off the Sport

That's a bugga mate, you might get lucky. The old cali probably oy good for around 160 or so I guess, the double demerits really hurts for sure, like you say ,after a lifetime of riding bikes, you probs got away with a ton of stuff in the past.Those cameras are usually in the worst places, and not necessarily dangerous places , not sure they do much good at all.Anyway hopefully you get the 750 up and roaring soon mate, HNY.

The 89 is moving forward nicely now and I'm hoping to fire her up pretty soon, happy new year mate, let's hope its a better one for the whole world.

Still going forward and trying to bleed the clutch system, not having a lot of luck. I know I've seen a thread here somewhere with some tips on that but I can't find it at this stage, no biggie I guess, oh yeah did I mention before how much I hate brake fluid, well that ain't changed.

Thanks Higgy, so I have a clutch lever feeling like a brake lever, not pulling into the bar and not sure about what's up with that, obviously something not right. Besides that I have refit the carbies with no probs and now I'm leaning towards refitting the motobatt , at least it won't bounce around. I have had a crack at rust converting the old tank so I'm getting close to firing her up, just gotta take my time and not make any big mistakes, made enough of them already.

That's what my clutch was doing. It felt like a brake lever. As you know it turned out to be the slave cylinder piston had seized in the bore. Which seal did you end up putting on the slave cylinder.

Ok, that makes some sense, I used the standard o'ring, I have the v shaped seal although it seems too loose on the actual piston, not sure if its the correct size. I think I'll maybe take the lever/ master and clutch cover off the bike and try see what's happening there.

I would probably take the clutch cover off and "gently" squeeze the clutch lever and see if the piston move at all. Don't squeeze to hard because it'll pop out and put brake fluid everywhere.That's how I found out mine had seized. It should move pretty easily.

Do you know whether he had the o-ring or v seal in mind when he resleeved the slave cylinder?.

I have taken the clutch cover off and I can pull the lever, or at least pump the lever and yes the piston moves happily outwards and I can push it back in by hand, not sure what to do from here.

I'm starting to think that I neglected to refit the spring prior to fitting the piston in the cover! Could this be the reason for the clutch lever feeling like the brake lever? Now I need to hunt down the spring as I can't recall seeing that sucker anywhere anytime lately.

Well the spring has sprung and nowhere to be found, but I did find a brand new v seal for the clutch slave piston.

Start again. Try taking the master cylinder cover off and push the piston in as far as it will go. Watch that the fluid doesn't flow out of the master cylinder. If the piston bottoms out solidly and doesn't return a bit then you have probably left the spring out. If the spring is in there you will know well before it bottoms out. Or you could just pop the piston out and check for peace of mind. I think the spring is only to keep the piston firmly against the centre of the clutch.
Are you saying that you need to pump the lever to get the piston to move?.
