I'd try a vacuum pump mate. They're pretty cheap on Ebay. It sounds like you still have air in the system.

Just got off the phone to a mate and he said to check your clutch line. I'm not sure if you have changed yours. He's had problems in the past where the hose has collapsed ( internally ) and the lever has been hard to pull in. Just a thought.

Cheers, I went by protwin today and Justin is wondering if we need to maybe shorten the stack possibly, obviously more bleeding and he thinks he has a spring around somewhere. So I will endeavour to kick her in the guts soon and hopefully that'll go well, then I'll trailer her to Justin's, and he's going to have a butchers at the clutch for me. Pretty happy about that, and with the tight chain he suggested I could fit a 14 tooth sprocket rather than lengthening the chain, sounds like less hassle to me so happy days.

Cool. I thought I remembered you doing something with your clutch pack and went looking for it but couldn't find it anywhere. It still wouldn't explain why you have to punp the lever to make the piston come out though. Probably a combination of things.

Yeah I put a Barnett clutch in her and I struggled to get it right so I got Justin to sort it, and he did. When we ran her up a few mths ago I ran her through the gears. We had to put a spacer behind the clutch nut as the thread on this new shaft is shorter, I'm guessing this is the issue, don't know how to deal with that yet but I'm sure there will be a fix, once again she's throwing curve balls.

Thinking about it, I can't see thats the problem and I remember Justin saying it shouldn't make any diff, so I'm thinking I just have something else wrong.

Well I fit the motobatt and hooked up all the cables, refit the filter and pump etc in the old tank and tried to fire her up, firstly without the plugs in to move some oil around. Next I tried with plugs in and no go, got spark but no fuel. I found oil spitting out from the alternator cover where the alt cables come out, I'm hoping that's because I have not siliconed up the gap around the exit there and cables. But I'm not even getting a dribble of fuel out the

Yeah no fuel at all out the tap. I tried sqirting some contact cleaner in the carbs and she gave signs of life. I'm if I have the inline filter in the tank reversed or something, I'm pretty sure the wires to the pump can go either way but maybe that's it. I will have to dump the fuel and have a bopeep in there. Anyone got any ideas on that one I'm all ears.

:You didn't do what I did?. Not enough fuel at the back of the tank to pump.

I know it's a dumb question but ( you have to ask the obvious first  ) you do have the tap turned to on, straight down?.

I think it was the wires back to front on the pump, I siphoned the fuel out , removed the pump and all .compressed air back to the spigot/tap, reversed the wires and checked the direction of inline filter. Yeah I refueled and fit fit the tank, give it a kick and she wants to go, trouble was I had a inferior three way connection on the lines. Well I definitely had fuel, new brass t piece and yippee yahoo, music to my ears she gave few little pops and then settled down to a liv ely tickover and a big roar with a bit of a twist, couple little issues but its a step closer, actually big day for me, pretty pumped

One of those little issues is that if i hit the ignition key on with the fuel tap in the off position fuel spills out from the tap. I don't think it's the original tap though, so that seriously needs some investigation, but all good ats

Great news mate. It's always a good thing when it fires up.

My suggestions were a bit silly but I always check the easy things first like forgetting to join the fuel pump connector in my case   .

What was the outcome with your clutch.

I will take the bike into protwin this week and see about the clutch issue, that's gotta be corrected before I move forward as its really bugging me. I have been looking at air filters again and looking at angled uni filters. The adapters I have on the keihins are slightly oval shaped ranging from 65 mm to around 62mm from memory, just need to do more research.

Having another look at the K & N f soup can filters i bought way back and decided to cut some of the rubber flange at an angle and popped them on, so far so good.
