Yeah the tank went on no probs, and the little pops i was getting on startup without the filters seems to have disappeared.

As it turns out , the dual fcr 41's will bolt straight up to the 900 ss with only a small amount of massaging to the left battery tray straps. Booked in at protwin for clutch assessment mid February, everything else seems ok.

You don't have a photo of how the battery straps in do you. Mine just sits there so I have to cable tie it down.

Oh, and some good news today which I'll post on my thread tonight :choo:

Mate, I tried looking into that but no luck. Nothing in any of my manuals and steinedinse seemed to have changed their format so no go there either. With my bike I don't need anything re the bent tray straps, keeps it pretty snug. Maybe some kinda foam wedged in there, I've never seen a proper factory fix. This pics not related just want to post it.

Here's a picture of the filters , it all seems to fit without any cutting of the frame. Contrary to what I just said, both battery straps need some bending and I remember a slight mod to the original coil brackets and the fcr 41's will fit this model, I think the inlet tracts and rubber connector are from the 91 on 900 ss that run mikunis as thats what mine had when I got her.

Well I got this far on Sunday then informed I had to isolate for a week due to a close contact at a party on Saturday. She was going to protwin on Monday so now that's all pushed back, and he's always busy so will need to rebook. Only silver lining was it was bloody good party. So close haha , I'll get there one day, life really does get in the way sometimes, weekends are often up the aged care facility where mum is hangin on and we brought dad over from Melbourne as he went downhill in a big hurry, divorced 40 yrs and now back together and happy as she can't remember him waha. Hope to start back on the painting soon.

Bugga. My son is in WA working. I haven't seen him in over 12 months but McStarlin is apparently easing the borders soon so he's booked to come over next month.

Your bike is so clean compared to mine haha. What did you use as a tank protector?.

It's good you can catch up with your boy soon, we're just starting to get covid here, I tested pos yesterday so another week in iso.The bike is pretty clean and the spare tank is what's on it now, just for these last mechanical bits , hopefully Justin sorts the clutch without too much drama then I'll look at the painting again, I'm not sure about tank protectors at this stage, I should start painting but the idea was to get mechanical done first, now she's sitting out on the trailer for a while.i really need her up on my bench to fit the fairings etc . I expected back from pro's late this week but all changed.

How are you feeling mate?. My daughter caught it and was a bit crook for one night then was fine.

Hopefully he'll get it sorted soon. I wish I had finished mine off sooner because it's a joy to ride.

I've had 3 days so far where I've been struggling to breathe due to being a asthmatic to start with, not feeling real flash. Pretty much got all the usual symptoms, id like to be out preparing the shed for painting and a myriad of other things but can't get off the bloody couch.l hear ya about finishing the bike, I'm so looking forward to riding the 89 and enjoying that experience. A know a guy in Queensland owns a race bike shop and used to race one in the early 90's, said it was a fantastic bike to race back then, I remember him describing the handling as very sharp , really exciting to be getting close.

Ok I've had enough time away from the 89 so I'll start preparing the shed for paint as I have another beast that will need space in the shed, so hopefully you will see some action soon

Unfortunately I've hit another snag and although mechanically the 89 is all good and pretty much ready to go, the painting won't resume for a while yet as I have 2x shoulder surgeries starting tomorrow, been a bit rough the last couple of weeks as my best friend/ girlfriend passed away on the 11th June, sorry for all my excuses on not finishing the 89 but life really has got in the way , it will be finished and you will be the first to know
