Idling at 3000 rpm after a hard run

Just wondering if anyone as encountered a high idle after putting there bike through its paces. It’s fitted with the standard Webber carb.
A brief rundown, I ended up doing around 40 miles in fast company all was OK until the return home, redlined through the gears coming onto a duel carriage way, then a 70mph cruise all was ok, showed for the rouderbout and noticed it idling around 3000 rpm, carried on, fine at a steady 60-70mph and on full throttle but still inflicted with the high idle, got home let it idle for a while with the odd blip on the throttle and it seemed to wonder between 2-3000 rpm, started it for a short while this morning and it’s idling around 1200rpm, I haven’t had chance yet to give it another run to see if the high idle returns.
Any thoughts
Steve

I had a similar condition recently and after looking for vacuum leaks, cracked rubber boots, loose intake manifold bolts, worn/dirty spark plugs, carb sychronization, etc, the problem turned out to be throttle cables: sticking a little on return. Lubing the cable and throttle with white lithium solved my issue. Good luck resolving yours. :-)

Hi, I had a similar occurrence. It happened when I was parking the bike after a long ride. I was turning into the parkimg spot and was hitting the steering lock; that seemed to slightly open the throttle and keep it there. The problem resolved when I rerouted the throttle cable. Hope this helps!

P.S. Any idea how to make photos small enough to post on this site?
