89 900 supersport battery?

Post by HIGHWAY89 »

I'm at the point where I need to buy the battery for the 89 and I'm not quite sure which way to go. Slightly smaller physically would be good , less than 72 mm depth is the main criteria as the motobatt is ridiculous tight re the battery tray straps being bent forward a little to accommodate the fcr's. Also I'm not really sure of the original battery details recommended for this bike, any ideas will be greatly appreciated, HNY.

If it is small and light weight you are after, AND your charging system is in top shape as in mosfett regulator, replaced stator and replaced wiring between the regulator and stator you cant beat a good lithium battery for power, size and light weight.

There's no problem so bad that a little fixing can't make it worse! : )
If it ain't broke keep fixin it till it is

Thanks Higgy I had the stator tested and allegedly good, the cables all replaced but I haven't replaced or upgraded the reg or even tested the reg. The reason for wanting to go smaller is cause removal of the MB16 AU after the initial start up a few mths back was an absolute nightmare, lots of cursing and tantrums. I will keep searching, so far I haven't seen the fittable lithium battery anyway.
