907 Gold valve covers
907 Gold valve covers
What is the significance, if any, of engines with gold valve covers. I see many of them are painted black? Thanks

Re: 907 Gold valve covers
The black covers are usually on the early P750. They early P750 had a different type of valve train. Can’t remember what changed, but that is when the gold covers started. The changed made it easier to set the gaps and what have you. The two types of covers are also interchangeable so they (the black) could be in later models case they match the rest of the engine?
Cheers.

I think it was when they changed to the removable clip on the opening rocker shaft , so you can just remove the clip and slide rocker out of the way rather than having to remove the rocker pivot shaft and rocker .

I wish I was young again............Id be heaps smarter than last time
