Question about Left Handlebar Switches

The switch marked "A" in the pic is broken off on my Paso. I was curious as to what it did so I consulted the Owners Manual. The switch marked "A" is not mentioned in the function listing. Please tell me what switch "A" does? Many thanks!

Thanks Gert! Your response led me to this posting:

So it appears that my US model did not have that switch (which would explain the missing description in the manual) so its the cover plate that is missing.
Mystery solved

Some countries have to have the headlights hard wired on and thusly there is no switch .
My Paso was sold new in Japan ( well it was imported from Japan ) and has the switch ,NZ has since adopted the " lights on " requirement.
PITA ....Since I put a decent sized bulb (and relay )in my Guzzi it draws more current than the alt can cope with and the ( huge ) battery slowly goes flat . Try push starting one of them (1974 850t ) with only one leg

( nah .......2 guys gave me a push )
