750 Paso California ignition pick-ups

Hi,
I'm new here and I've already posted this to the Pantaheads site where it was suggested that I join this list in order to widen the net. The situation is as follows.
A good friend has bought a wrecked 1990 750 Paso
California.
It was missing the ignition pick-ups which sit on a
half-moon of metal around the flywheel which he has
recently managed to buy from ebay.
Unfortunately, he has now discovered that the ignition
system is 'different' to the standard 750 Paso with
all, or most of the feeds being passed through a
Magneti Marelli Digiplex electronic ignition unit,
part No. 2S Med 441A. He is working from a standard
750 Paso manual which shows a completely different
wiring diagram as well as a different electronic
ignition unit.
The second problem is that the ebay vendor who sold
him the pick-ups cut the cable to get it through the
crank case and although the severed connections have
been supplied with the pick-ups, the manual he's
working from does not cover this set-up so he has no
clue as to where the ignition pick-up cables should be
attached. This is unlike the standard Paso which feeds
the timing pulse up to the electronic firing boxes
located under the seat of the standard Paso.
Third problem is that there are no timing marks on the
flywheel to set the pick-up position to. It appears to
be quite unlike the standard 750 but may be the same
wiring arrangement and Digiplex ignition system as the
906 Paso.
Can anyone help out with this dilemma???
Thanks
Roderick
