Re: No resistance at clutch lever

Before you start demolishing your bike, it sometimes helps when you drop the bike at its left or right side.. It'll take two persons to do it safely. Other option could be to pull the lever in and use a tierip to keep it activated. Leave it there for a night or two..

Re: Anyone installed steel brakelines?

Gents, my brakelines are still the original ones. No complaints, but after twenty years of service they should be replaced. I have the steel brakelines on my older 907 and the rubber stock ones on the newer. Do you think they NEED to be changed? Ciao Brakelines should be replaced after a couple of ...

Anyone installed steel brakelines?

Gents, my brakelines are still the original ones. No complaints, but after twenty years of service they should be replaced. On my 851 I've got HEL-lines. Top product, but a bit expensive. Anyone other experience..?

cheers Léon

michelin for sale NL

Gents, a new michelin on a local auction-site. If it needs sending and the seller won't do it directly, I can act as an 'intermediair'. No fees or costs for my part offcourse. Price is €250, never fitted, production date is mid 2005. http://www.marktplaats.nl/index.php?url=http%3A//motoren.marktplaa...

Re: 88 limited gearbox final drive noise?????

In recent posts I've mentioned the bronze bushing in the gearbox. It's in the second gear just next where the front sprocket is fitted. If this is the case, driving on can cause damage to the second gear. You should have noticed this while shifting gear (less smooth).

cheers! Léon

Re: changing rear caliper

..Even on stock bikes, the chain alignment can be suspect, and the adjuster marks are not always right. (especially early Paso) Get your rear sprocket on the wheel the way you want it, mount up your wheel. Measure from the swingarm axle to the rear wheel axle as accurately as you can so you know th...

Re: Potential PASO purchase

The late paso's have an improved engine, for example gearbox. Dunno exactly from which enginenumber, but it should be from approx number 4000 and up. Also these types were fitted with black passengerhandle, black yokes and gold valvecaps. Also some mods to camshaft system, as later have that easily...

Re: changing rear caliper

Picked up two sprockets today. One is 31mm in width  and the offset is 14mm (measured from front sprocket). A quick view shows the sprocket fits on the axle. Only thing is that 14mm is slightly to much.. An extra ring is needed. The other sprocket is standard 906. With some alterations this...

Re: changing rear caliper

The chainline for the 495 sprocket will be more outboard than the 736 sprocket. The reference for the sprocket is the side that the retainer plate attaches, and that is on the left side. The 906 (736)has no recess, as the cases were wider to accommodate the newer 6 speed transmission. This will mov...

I called a specialist nearby. They have been for more then 30 years and involved in racing for quite some time. They sold Santa Monica's out of the crates and told me it has 11mm offset rearwheel.

Re: changing rear caliper

Hi Brutus, I've had my wine and now sober again. putting the wheel off center is a way I wouldn't go. BMW put their compleet drive train out of center to adapt wide section tyres. But the wheels itself stayed inline. the chainline is also important. if you have the possiblity to move the rea...

Re: changing rear caliper

Gents, I know the offset-option is not the perfect way to go, but it's better then a wrong driveline. I checked once again and it seems that for example the santamonica's (late '80s) had an offset rear wheel 11mm. Offcourse is a perfect setting of the wheels still the better option.. Just proving my...
