750 Sport Coil Choice

Hi All, It appears to be time to update the old coils on my 89 750 Sport. It has a Marelli Digiplex ignition fitted with original light grey coloured coils and hard wired leads. Can anyone advise which of the following would be most suitable? Should I get 5ohm or 3ohm? Would the following be suitabl...

Re: Laid Up 900SS and new member!

are all the DC10-1 COILS the same yes they are. On ebay you also find DSK6-2. DSK6-2 is a whole ignition kit for Harleys consisting of two DC10-1 coils and some other bits. Some sellers offer the coils of this kit seperately for around USD28 ea. Although not correct they name them DSK6-2 coils. Hi,...

Stored bike start vs regular starting

Hi, I have an original 89 Sport running a Webber DCNF 44 carburettor which gets ridden perhaps once a month on standard 91 octane fuel. I generally charge the battery a day before riding and check it over before hand. If it's been sitting for 4 - 6 weeks it takes at least 6 to 8 attempts before comi...

They look the same as what I installed recently.

I didn't polish mine either and it performs fine.

Re: Ducati 900 Supersport 1989 is going back to Weber

Hi Slepsyns, I also persisted with the dcnf 44 on my 750 Sport and fitted 4.5 aux venturis with larger jets which helped improve the bike on lower end performance. I'm much happier with the riding experience and nothing quite beats the sound of a weber Ducati! It really does sound incredible. Good c...

Re: Dynatek DC3-1 coils 750 Sport

Thanks for all the information guy's…………..I don't know how I'd resolve the bikes issues without your support.

In fact I don't even know why I own it considering the amount of issues it was built with!

Cheers

Re: 750 ignition - advice please

Hi Higgy, thanks for the article.

Now I understand why my older bike needed an upgraded glass inline fuse to handle the surge when activating the indicators. Well that was one of the reasons anyway :) Loose ignition switch pins didn't help either.

Cheers

Dynatek DC3-1 coils 750 Sport

Can anyone share their advice as to whether these Dynatek coils will work okay on a 89 750 Sport? Will existing mounts fit? Any suggestion of an alternate supplier? Spec: Single output Primary resistance = 3 ohms Secondary resistance = 14,000 ohms http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/191590170435?_trksid=p206...

Re: 750 ignition - advice please

Hi, the best way to go is not to start with any modification. Go through your wiring first, clean all connections and ground connections. Get the wiring diagram and check which way the power to the coils goes. It`s probably like on the Paso where the power runs via the right handlebar and then the ...

Re: 750 front brake service

Thanks for the info Peter. Now that the seed is sown I'll get around to pulling the calipers down and fit a seal kit………it's the missing link as I've been through everything else and have it running quite well.

Thanks for not buying it!

Re: 750 front brake service

Gents, It's starting to sound like one of those "if it isn't broken leave it alone" scenarios! I hate taking down brake systems on old bikes, it' bringing back nightmares……….. I'll mull this over and perhaps get seal kit in the interim. Anyone know the best place to buy the kit? bmw851, yo...

750 front brake service

Hi All,

With such a small amount of clearance surrounding the front brake calipers, can anyone share some advise on how best to remove them?

I want to bleed the lines and replace the pads.

Thanks

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

No urban legend gents, there's apparently around 100 sets of them sitting in rural NSW. They're rare in a sense that nobody else has NOS sets for sale…….not that I'm aware of anyway.

Ian has been very helpful to me over the years and we're lucky to have him located right here in Aus :)

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

Hi Andrew, I'm located in Melbourne. If we resided closer I'd suggest a ride in the hills on the 750's. I just took a quick look at the beginning of your post and noticed the previous owner wanted to retain the original mufflers. I'm not sure if you already know, but Ian Gowanloch has about 100 bran...
