Re: my Paso - a never ending (love) story ...

G, Mate, you trouble me, you trouble me deeply. Suddenly my Paso looks old, dirty, worn and in need of powdercoating, autosol and zinc chromate...... I really like the front bracket for the full floating rear caliper setup. If you have a CAD drawing you'd be willing to share that would be great. My ...

Re: my Paso - a never ending (love) story ...

G, I recongnise that airbox mod from the tech section - I thought that might be yours! I'm planning the same thing but keep putting it off (man I hate fibreglass). I see what you mean about the 4.5in rear with 160/60. Does look narrow compared to OEM. Worries me a bit as that's the way I'm going wit...

Re: New cure for hard to start Paso bikes

Thanks for the considered reply. Makes sense.

So aside from connections the main variable is just the material (i.e copper alloying/impurities).

Well, and corrosion as you say....

Re: [New Paso Member] Joeltje reporting a Bluecati from Holland

Joel,

Try www.startwin.com (Nederlands). They have done some parts in the past.

I small machine shop would be cheaper if you have CAD drawings and know exactly what you need, but those guys do alot of custom work and know their way I would say.

Cheers,

Mick

Re: Speedo Error Margin w 17 inch front?

Hmmmm, Food for thought. Now that you've said that I remember I used to run a 120/60 on my 600SS and then switched to a 120/70 and things improved. I thought it was the slight adjustment in trail (i dropped the forks a bit at the same time) but I wonder now how much a role the aspect ratio of the ty...

Re: [New Paso Member] Joeltje reporting a Bluecati from Holland

He he, Indeed - you guys are running two by two oil coolers of course! I've said it before and I'll say it again - I should stick to the 906 forum! Thanks faster for correcting me :) If you end up changing your mind and going for 17inch wheels I have a good selection of drawings from this board and ...

Re: New cure for hard to start Paso bikes

Well, I've definitely learnt something. Wire gauge numbers vs actual cross section references I've not ever looked up. Does the current carrying capacity of the same gauge wire vary with the no of strands, void space, manufacturing type, manufactuer? I remember reading somewhere that the % of deform...

Re: [New Paso Member] Joeltje reporting a Bluecati from Holland

Hi Joeltje, Nice buy - looks very tidy indeed! I bought a 906 near Tilburg last year under similar circumstances (going cheap, on it's last set of tyres). You can go for a full 17inch wheel conversion or try and make the chain offset modifications required to fit alternate size 16inch tyres. I think...

Re: Speedo Error Margin w 17 inch front?

G, Thanks mate - much appreciated. I'm going to go with a 120/60-17 front tyre and GPS check the accuracy with the OEM Paso speedo through the speed range to get any error changes mapped out. I've noticed on most bikes the error is non linear with speed. Definately more conservative at 100 - 120km/h...

Re: New cure for hard to start Paso bikes

Hi all, I ordered one of these kits through ebay recently. Michael was straight away in communication over email to confirm the exact locations of solenoid wrt to the battery to identify which of the various possible configurations I had. Photos were exchanged to confirm what sort of kit it needed. ...

Re: Need Line on Part for an 88 Paso

Mustang, In NZ I always used to have good luck with Andy at ABs Ducati in Nelson. Small outfit, but good guy for modifications. They race older belt drives. I'd ride down from New Plymouth occasionally (long bus home) or check in with him on the way south for a tour of the better island :) He's alwa...

Re: what are these holes for ?

Hi,

For two of them I would guess someone has created threaded holes for grease points to the swingarm pivot?

But I can't think what the third would be.

I don't have them on any on the various two valve crankcases I have.

Curious,

Mick

Speedo Error Margin w 17 inch front?

Hi there, With regard to the speedo calibration issue when using 17inch tyres..... If you use a 120/60 tyre on a 17inch front wheel then the difference as compared to the OEM 130/60 on a 16inch front is only about 2.5% (linear deviation, comparing circumference). ie. 287.9mm vs 281.2mm circumference...
