Electrical Connectors

As part of my rebuild I want to clean up the wiring harness. Does anyone have an resources for electrical connectors that are compatible with the existing 750 sport ones. In particular the male end that goes into the instrument light cluster. I would prefer not to have to purchase from Ducati as the...

Re: 1990 750 Sport Rebuild

Can't wait to see the pictures Clive, Let me know what your solution is to replacing the electrical connectors. I have started to look at the wire harness and will more than likely redo mine as well. On a side note, I have to come to your fair city sometime, I want to see the Britten, I have read Jo...

Re: 1990 750 Sport Rebuild

I picked up a cheapo media blaster at Harbor Freight Tools and ordered a wheel polishing kit from the Eastwood company. My son wanted to get involved in the rebuild process so I enlisted his help. This week-end was spent doing some of the very dirty work of media blasting various parts in preparatio...

Re: Mikuni carb conversion - main jet size?

Here is a web link of stock jet sizes. Scroll down to the Ducati Mikuni section.

The main jets are listed by carb type:

Most listed are 140.

Re: Lower Triple Tree Bearing

Hey Phil,

The guy I purchased the bike from put the Paso triple and bars on as the sport clip-ons were bent. I have a complete set of 900CR triple clamps and forks that I will put on when the sport forks go.

They are not as nice as the 900ss adjustable forks but I got them on ebay for cheap.

Re: Lower Triple Tree Bearing

Underneath the bearing there is a black aluminum looking spacer. The top bearing and seal came right off. By looking at the top spacer, there is a rubber seal on the inside of the spacer. I am assuming that the bottom spacer is the same. Looks like a dust seal. To remove it do you suggest hitting it...

Lower Triple Tree Bearing

Anyone have any idea on how to remove the lower bearing and seal from the triple tree. It appears to be pressed on. I want to bead blast and powder coat the tree. But I am afraid that the heat will destroy the rubber seal.

Thanks

Re: 1990 750 Sport Rebuild

Right after New Years I picked up the Powder Coat setup at Harbor Freight Tools when it was on sale. I found a used oven on craigslist for free. An electrican friend wired in a 220 volt outlet in the garage for me. There is a powder coat company called Powder by the Pound powderbuythepound.com/ that...

Re: New To The 750

Hello dtm79, Welcome, I did the 17" wheel conversion. I picked up a set of 900ss wheels with rotors and brake calipers. I had to do a bit of spacer changing on the rear axle, but the wheel mounted right up. The front axle called for a bit of modification. I had to turn a bit of material off of ...

Re: 1990 750 Sport Rebuild

Jon,

Nothing appeared to be wrong with the bottom end. The compression check was 90 psi in each cylinder when I checked.
I am concerned about the valve guides as the spark plugs always appear damp.

Yes, the resources here on the forum are the best.

Re: 1990 750 Sport Rebuild

Thanks Jon, Yes, I am doing a no stress build, I plan on having fun with the build and learn as much as I can. It will depend on how the heads and cylinders look when I examine them. I plan on doing a full dis-assembly, but will see depending on the condition once I open her up. I also plan on docum...

Re: 1990 750 Sport Rebuild

Well, Been out of town all week, Just got back and found that some of the engine tools have arrived. I purchased all of these from ebay. I still need two more to get the motor apart. Guess I have to bite the bullet and order them from Ducati. I examined the brake and clutch master cylinders and foun...
