Re: 907ie wiring modification confusion
Great stuff, Nick. Can you confirm the wiring of the relay is as shown in the last image and not the one in the actual 907ie file?

907ie wiring modification confusion
I was about to do the wiring mod that involves adding a relay to isolate the ignition switch from the main power. This: https://app.box.com/s/64zvqpl6sf303gt44wu6 The images and comments below illustrate my confusion. There are various versions of this mod description scattered around the forums. Mo...

Re: Replacement relay hunt
Yes, after replacing a starter that didn't need replacing because I refused to believe the 6 month old battery was failing, I am finally at peace again. The relays coincidentally started flaking out. I was getting ready to pull the ignition switch and check that --- all for the want of a battery. Al...

Re: Replacement relay hunt
Right, there is no 87A. The relays have two 87 outputs, Normally Open. All 5 pins are wired. Sure, I could swap wire 30 for 86 on the plug and get a Type B 5 pin dual output and be done with it. That looks like the easiest option at the moment with no 5 pn Type A relays available, as far as I can se...

Re: Replacement relay hunt
For example, here is a type B double output relay. These are often called double make and break. If you look at the bottom pin configuration, you would need to swap the wires to pins 30 and 86

Re: Help! Starter problem persists.
BTW, the battery is definitely bad. New one on order. Even though it was a 6 month old battery, I learned AGM batteries are very sensitive to overcharging. There was evidence that the damage had already been done when I picked up the bike from the PO. It had seemed to work fine a week earlier, but t...

Oil pressure switch boot option!
Most of the rubber on the new to me 907IE is in good shape. BUT the oil pressure switch boot fell apart when I went to remove it to get to the starter. I saw a boot that looked about right on eBay, and it fits the switch perfectly. The only hassle is fitting the connector through the boot's wire ope...

Replacement relay hunt
The two major ignition and fuel injection relays on my bike are flaky. I see recommendation here for a replacement relay as part R1377, but I can't see how that would work. It's a changeover relay (we need double output) and it's type B pin configuration (we need type A). A bosch double output relay...

Re: Help! Starter problem persists.
Looks like the ignition switch has some security type bolts holding it on. I see threads inside the bolt head. It looks like you can pull off the electrical plug...I think I may have broken one of the retaining tabs on the plastic plug housing. :banghead: I only got it partially off. I'd rather take...

Re: Help! Starter problem persists.
I plan to do the ignition switch wiring mod (relay removing full power passing through the switch). Great idea in the FAQ. BUT, with the relay oddities, I want to examine the ignition switch itself. How is it removed?

Re: Help! Starter problem persists.
I need to get to the main ground. it's rather buried under the tank. Removing the rear fairing side panels is a bit of a Chinese puzzle. Learning as I go. Update: Oh, the ride side panels were very easy...even covered in the shop manual. Although I did the starter replacement w/o removing them, it w...

Re: Help! Starter problem persists.
The starter is not turning quickly, the idler gear seems to move easily, so I think that rules out a problem inside the motor. I may be embarrassed to find it has been the battery all along. It's a newish AGM, charges well, holds a charge (my battery charger does a 12 hr test) and I have it on a tri...

Help! Starter problem persists.
My starter was becoming progressively more sluggish. It would suck the 6 month old battery down rather quickly, turning over very sluggishly or not at all. All my tests led me to conclude the starter was bad. Jumped solenoid, cleaned up all connections. fully charged battery made no difference. It n...

Re: Need help with left cover removal
I'm having trouble with one clutch slave bolt. Does the clutch slave need to come off? FOLLOW-UP: Well, I got the clutch slave off and there appears to be a hidden cover bolt under the slave! Am I right or is it holding something else on? ANSWER: It is holding the cover on. Once I removed that the c...
