Turns out the guy I did the EH brightwork for is a motor trimmer and he's done a killer job on the seat. As I have already changed it up a little from original i thought it won't hurt to custom the seat , pretty sure I have seen the elefant logo on another 89 somewhere and got the idea from there, the main seat area is suede and the rest is I think called gripper vynil designed for motorcycle seats. With the motor I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible and said to work on it when it suits Justin so I can't expect it done in a hurry, in appreciation of my patience she'll get a free dyno run when up and running so all good. The S3 is finally here and hope to have her on the road in a couple weeks.

That is funny, mate it's obviously not as easy as it looks , I been painting all kinds of shit since a kid , got a local auto paint shop who also builds custom bikes, he walked me through the guzzi paio be oont and since then I got a cash converter bargain , iwata pininfarina gravity fed gun, no excuses now they say, pressure will be on , I want the 900 paint to be flawless probs won't happen but I will show you pics antway

Hi and congrats to Your outstanding work on this very iconic bike.
The Chain pinion fixation as seen in Post Tue Oct 24, 2017 11:54 am is most interesting.
Can You tell about it and can I get one of those ?
Is it made by Yourself or an aftermarket item ?
Thx,
Wolfgang

Not much has happened for a few months, but hoping to get the old 89 coming to life this Australian summer, Wolfgang the the layshaft spline was pretty flogged out and I had protwin in perth make this up as a failsafe, bit of luck soon I can add something worthwhile here

THX so far, would be good to hear more about Your fix of the layshaft spline. I had same issues and my solution works, but it is not satisfying. But at all, after 177.000 miles no wonder.

The fix for the countershaft spline wear was simply as it looks ,just a cover screwed into the shaft as a safety really. That's about to change as I have picked up another gearbox with low kms which is going in with the engine rebuild. I'm repainting the alternator cover now and powdercoating the clutchcover.

I bought this bike recently to scratch my guzzi itch, if anything its inspiring me to push the 89 along, I owned one of these about 22 yrs ago and sold it to buy my first house , gotta be happy about that

Snap. I picked this girl up from Tassie in January. '95 model and last of the carbies with 25,000kms on the clock.

Hey Andrew that one is really nice with low ks, I'm guessing she cost a bit, my old girl has about 158ks with some work in between but runs strongly, fifth gear winey, she did a lot of distance touring. My daughter and I loaded her up and did a run from Perth to Margaret River last Xmas and it was a joy.The red/ black looks real classy as well.

She belonged to an old fella down in Davenport. The poor bloke had a stroke and couldn't ride it anymore so his daughter sold it for him. It came with a towbar and the option of a trailer but it was just going to cost too much in transport for the trailer as well. I might use the tow bar at a later date. I paid $10,000 for her which I thought was pretty good considering how much the prices of older Euro bikes have gone up. I was after a LeMans Mk3 but alas I've missed the boat and they're all out of my price range now.
This is my second Cali and I'm enjoying riding it.
That sounds like a top trip. My wife's going to come riding with me when our lord and masters let us leave our LGA.....I hear 2025 is on the cards lol. How are you finding the throttle. I don't remember my last one being so heavy. I'm guessing it was because it had 30mm dels and this one has 36's.

Hey Hwy,
do you remember how much ProTwin charged you for the resleave on your clutch slave cylinder. I think mines ok. The piston is a bit looser now ( without the seal ) than when I tried to get it out but that might be normal as I don't know how lose normal is?. I can't imagine I've worn the bore down from just cleaning it with an aluminium polish like Autosol. Was it hard to get the piston and seal back in the bore?.

Yeah the cali throttle is pretty hard with the 93 model 30 mm carbs ,as is the 750 s3 and 30 mm carbs. Same as both my lemans models. I can't remember how much for the clutch resleeve, but very reasonable. I have repainted the alternator cover in wrinkle coat and clutch cover is finally powdercoated without cutouts , bit of luck get the motor back finished soon and keep pushing on .

The piston with new seal and vaso was fairly tight, , I can't see any problems for you there with a correct new v seal or such
