Paso 906 timing belt cover search?

Post by Mark906 »

Can’t find a timing belt cover, specifically for a 906. Can you use, say a 916 or early monster cover? There are many options for other models. Any ideas? I have just joined and great paso info here! I’ve owned a 906 for about 4 years now and loving it! Thanks

Hi there & welcome,

just a tip for a question like this. Go to the website of the german Duc parts dealer Stein Dinse (https://www.stein-dinse.biz/index.php?language=en). On their website you find electronic parts catalogs. When you've found the part you're looking for click on "order" and you'll get to the part's website. There you'll often find a list of other models using the same part. Also you'll often get the info about superseded part numbers which is also helpful if you then search i.e. on Ebay.
In your case the SD website lists following Ducs using the same covers:

Ducati 900 SS `90
Ducati 900 SS `92
Ducati 900 SS F.E. `98
Ducati 900 SS inj. `99
Ducati 900 SS/SL `94-`97
Ducati 906 Paso `88
Ducati 907 I.E. `92
Ducati Monster 900 `93
Ducati Monster 900 `94
Ducati Monster 900 `98
Ducati Monster 900 i.e. `00
Ducati ST 2 `97
Ducati 900 Monster Cromo , BJ 1998 - 1999

It is possible that some covers were black, others grey if I'm not mistaken.
There's a number of aftermarket covers i.e. in carbon that were sold for these, too.

Not listed is the Cagiva Elefant 900 but I'm not sure they were sold in Australia anyway.

The covers of a 851/888/916 won't fit as those have 4-valve engines (2 camshafts).
